Welcome to HappyMaps. By downloading or using our app, you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service. Please read them carefully.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 21 years old to use HappyMaps. By using the App, you confirm that you are 21 or older. HappyMaps is a nightlife and social application intended for adults of legal drinking age in the United States.

2. Your Account

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account and password. You agree to provide accurate information when creating your account and to keep it up to date. You may not use another person's account without permission.

3. Acceptable Use

You agree not to use HappyMaps to:

• Harass, threaten, or harm other users.
• Post false, misleading, or fraudulent information.
• Impersonate another person or entity.
• Violate any applicable laws or regulations.
• Attempt to access other users' accounts or data without authorization.
• Use the app for any commercial purpose without our written consent.

Additionally, you may not post, share, or transmit content through HappyMaps that:

• Is sexually explicit or pornographic.
• Promotes hate speech, harassment, or discrimination based on race, ethnicity, religion, national origin, gender, sexual orientation, gender identity, disability, or any other protected characteristic.
• Depicts or glorifies violence, self-harm, suicide, or illegal activity.
• Contains threats, intimidation, or harassment directed at any individual or group.
• Promotes the sale or use of illegal drugs or weapons.
• Is intended to deceive, mislead, or defraud other users.

Violations of this section may result in immediate content removal, account suspension, or permanent termination.

4. Nightlife and Safety

HappyMaps provides information about nightlife venues and user intentions for entertainment purposes only. We do not endorse any specific venue or guarantee the accuracy of venue information. You are solely responsible for your own safety and decisions when going out. Please drink responsibly and never drink and drive.

5. School Selection

When you sign up, you choose your school from a list. School selection is self-reported and not verified by HappyMaps. You agree to choose your school accurately. You may not select a school you are not affiliated with for the purpose of misleading other users or accessing school-specific group features under false pretenses. We may suspend accounts that misrepresent school affiliation.

6. No Affiliation with Educational Institutions

HappyMaps is an independent application and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or in any way officially connected to any college, university, or educational institution. Any references to specific schools within the app (such as college verification badges) are solely for the purpose of connecting users who attend the same institution and do not imply any formal relationship or partnership with those institutions. All college and university names are the property of their respective institutions.

7. User Content and Your License to Us

When you use HappyMaps, you may create content including bar ratings, reviews, profile photos, group names, crawl plans, and related information ("User Content"). You retain ownership of your User Content.

By submitting User Content to HappyMaps, you grant HappyMaps a non-exclusive, worldwide, royalty-free, sublicensable license to use, store, display, reproduce, and distribute your User Content solely for the purpose of operating and improving the App. This license ends when you delete your User Content or your account, except where we need to retain content for legal or safety reasons.

You are responsible for your User Content. You agree not to post content that is illegal, harmful, harassing, defamatory, or infringes the rights of others. We reserve the right to remove or modify any User Content at our discretion.

8. Reporting and Response

HappyMaps provides tools for users to block other users and to report content, accounts, or behavior that violates these Terms. Reports may be submitted through the in-app reporting feature on user profiles, by emailing henry@happymapsapp.com, or through any other channels we make available.

We are committed to maintaining a safe community. We will review credible reports of objectionable content and act within 24 hours of receipt. Action may include:

• Removing the reported content.
• Issuing warnings to users who violate these Terms.
• Suspending or terminating accounts of users who engage in harassment, hate speech, sexually explicit content, threats, or other violations of Section 3.
• Permanently banning users in cases of severe violations.

We may also remove content or suspend accounts at our discretion to protect the safety and wellbeing of our community, even without a formal report. Repeat offenders or those engaged in coordinated abuse may be permanently banned without prior warning.

9. Account Deletion

You may delete your account at any time through Settings → Privacy & Safety → Delete Account & Data. Upon deletion:

• Your profile, content, and associated data are permanently removed from our active systems
• Deletion takes effect immediately
• Backup systems may retain deleted data for up to 30 days, after which it is permanently purged

10. Disclaimer of Warranties

HappyMaps is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. We do not guarantee that the app will be error-free, uninterrupted, or that the information provided will always be accurate or up to date.

11. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, HappyMaps and its creators shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the app.

12. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms of Service from time to time. We will notify you of significant changes by updating the date at the top of this page. Continued use of the app after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

13. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to its conflict of law provisions.

14. Activity Indicators

Counts and activity indicators within HappyMaps reflect user-stated intentions and do not represent confirmed attendance or actual venue occupancy. HappyMaps makes no guarantee about the accuracy of nightlife activity data.

15. Intellectual Property

HappyMaps, the HappyMaps name, logo, design, and other branding are the property of HappyMaps, Inc. All rights reserved. You may not copy, reproduce, modify, or distribute these without our prior written permission.

References to universities, bars, and venues within the App are for identification purposes only. All third-party names, marks, and logos belong to their respective owners.

16. Account Termination by HappyMaps

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate your account at our discretion, including for:

• Violations of these Terms
• Harassment or harm to other users
• Suspected fraud or abuse
• Legal requirements

When reasonable, we will provide notice before termination. For serious violations, we may terminate immediately. If your account is terminated for violations, you may not create a new account without our permission.

17. Severability and Entire Agreement

If any provision of these Terms is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions will continue in full force. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and HappyMaps regarding your use of the App.

18. Dispute Resolution

Any disputes arising from or related to these Terms or your use of the App will be resolved in the state or federal courts located in California. You and HappyMaps both consent to the jurisdiction of those courts.
